E.ON Make Energy Price Promise

Great news for E.ON customers after the energy giants announced that they will not raise the cost of residential fuel for the whole of 2012. E.ON has a total of 4.8 million domestic customers and it will come as a relief to them after news last week that British Gas owners Centrica revealed that energy bills could go up by as much as £130 this winter.

Chief executive, Dr Tony Cocker, says: ‘Let me be clear, E.ON will not raise residential prices in 2012. I want every family in the UK to know that we will always do our best to be fair and act in the best interests of our customers.

‘Unfortunately global energy markets are expected to see an overall trend of rising wholesale prices but as a company we believe in acting fairly, which means cutting prices when we can and never raising prices unless absolutely necessary.’

The last paragraph of Dr Cocker’s quote makes for particularly interesting reading as there is no getting away from it, household fuel will continue to rise in the long-term. Traditional gas is in very short supply nowadays which is why we seem to be continually hit by expensive energy bills.

If you’re an E.ON customer and hearing the news of this price freeze for the first time then you need to see it as an opportunity to install energy efficient measures now before price hikes become even more substantial.
