Porches, Cumbria

In england the porch began to be used through churches in medieval times. Back in those days the Porches tended to be built from stone, or sometimes timber, and placed on the southern side of the building – as well as other sides. These porches were mainly built to provide cover for people at the church.

As time went on the churches began to have two stories, with a room above the entrance porch which was used as a storeroom, library, or another similar room such as an armory. Sometimes the church custodian lived in the upper storey and a window would be installed for supervision of the interior. Most churches left from this era still have these porches, both internally and externally.

Coming back to the present, porches are highly customisable, with different roof shapes, colours and Planet South Lakes will even match your brick pattern so that it fits in perfectly with your house.
