Putting Your Mind At Rest, The Route To A More Secure Home

The very thought of someone managing to force their way into your home without your permission is enough to make you feel sick in the pit of your stomach.

No-one wants it to happen to them but burglaries occur every single day throughout the UK and unless you’re vigilant it could be your home thieves try to target next.

Making the necessary precautions and being on guard about home security will severely dent the chances of even the most cunning intruder. How do you go about doing this? Abiding by the following pieces of advice will help:

• Top of the priority list should be a brand new set of windows and doors as traditional window and door designs generally don’t possess the strength and reliability needed to protect your home adequately enough. A UPVC or aluminium window or door is far more resilient and contains a tamper-proof multi-point locking mechanism.
• Before leaving your residence unoccupied check that all windows and doors in the house are properly locked.
• If heading away on holiday for a week or two ask a friend or relative to regularly drop in at your home to e.g. open and close the curtains, put away the recycling bin, pick up any letters that come through the post etc. as they’re all tell-tale signs that the house is empty which could easily be picked up on by a local criminal.
• Invest in a burglar alarm, security light or even CCTV if you live in a particularly vulnerable area.
• Be careful when answering the door. If you have any suspicions about anyone who approaches your home then immediately report it.
