How You Can Measure Your Windows And Doors On Your Own

For the time being, Planet will still not be able to come out to customer’s homes to perform any surveys or measure up for new windows and doors. But this doesn’t mean that we aren’t still here for our customers in this most uncertain of times; we most certainly are.

Double Glazing

Please. If you have an eye on our replacement windows and doors, get in touch. Using our new FREE Online Design Service is one way of getting them planned and organised.

According to official statement provided by window service companies, you will be advised on the video-call, because of the present situation, we will have to assign you with one important task – measuring your current windows and doors. You could also see post here and understand the benefits of getting blinds and shutters installed.

The measurements you take don’t have to be bang on. Just a rough estimation is what we need for the moment and this is how to do it:

Windows

  • Using a measuring tape, you will need to measure both the width and height of your windows.
  • For both the width and height of the windows, go brick-to-brick with the tape measure.
  • Record the measurements in millimetres, centimetres or inches.
  • One of our fitters will visit after lockdown to take the exact measurements we need once you have accepted a quotation.
  • Choose between either a UPVC or aluminium frame.
  • Choose a window design and colour.
  • Please take an external shot of your current windows for us to see if you just want like-for-like replacements.
  • If you want a new window design and have seen a particular style you like, try and show us an example.

Doors

  • Using a measuring tape, you will need to measure both the width and height of your door.
  • For the width of the door, go brick-to-brick with the tape measure, and for the height, go brick-to-floor.
  • Record the measurements in either metric or imperial units.
  • One of our fitters will visit after lockdown to take the exact measurements we need once you have accepted a quotation.
  • Choose between either a UPVC or composite frame.
  • Choose a door design and colour.
  • Choose between either an inward or outward opening door.
  • Let us know if your current door is hinged on the left or right as you look at it from the outside.
  • Please take an external shot of your current door for us to see if you just want a like-for-like replacement.
  • If you want a new door design and have seen a particular style you like, try and show us an example.

After receiving all of this information from you, Planet will proceed with the preparation involved in putting your new windows and doors together, so why wait?
