How To Stay Warm Without It Costing You A Fortune

Until a couple of weeks ago the UK had been experiencing a relatively mild winter but we should have known how quickly the weather can turn in this country.

The last few nights have seen temperatures dip to below freezing and the cold snap looks as though it’s here to stay, so it’s important that you stay warm in your home. However, keeping yourself comfortable inside your residence shouldn’t come at a price and put a strain on your finances.

The first instinct of many people is to crank up their central heating when it isn’t always necessary.

Here are a few conventional and unusual winter warmers you can put into practice to heat you and your home:

– Open the curtains first thing in the morning to let sunlight in and close them when darkness falls to keep any heat produced by your boiler trapped indoors.
– Add a few extra sheets to your bed and invest in a good thick duvet.
– After cooking leave the oven door open and allow the heat to circulate around the kitchen.
– Dress appropriately in the home whether that means putting on a couple of thick jumpers during the day and an extra pair of socks or popping on your pj’s at night.
– Drink a couple of hot chocolates and eat a warm meal.
– Move your sofa/chairs away from any radiators so that the heat can more easily spread.
– Never leave a radiator on in an empty room.
– Keep any internal doors shut at all times.
– Do more exercise as it accelerates body heat production.

If you have the cash available then replace any old windows and doors with energy efficient solutions from Planet as they will save you huge amounts of money in the long-term.
