E.ON Make Energy Price Promise

Author: Conservatories & Double Glazing Expert  |  Leave a Comment >>

Great news for E.ON customers after the energy giants announced that they will not raise the cost of residential fuel for the whole of 2012. E.ON has a total of 4.8 million domestic customers and it will come as a relief to them after news last week that British Gas owners Centrica revealed that energy bills could go up by as much as £130 this winter.

Chief executive, Dr Tony Cocker, says: ‘Let me be clear, E.ON will not raise residential prices in 2012. I want every family in the UK to know that we will always do our best to be fair and act in the best interests of our customers.

‘Unfortunately global energy markets are expected to see an overall trend of rising wholesale prices but as a company we believe in acting fairly, which means cutting prices when we can and never raising prices unless absolutely necessary.’…

Most of us are in for a well-deserved extended weekend in the next few days. Even the smallest of measures can sometimes make the biggest of differences. Here is a few things you could look do:

Garden

Those with a front garden need to pay particular attention to it as it will often be one of the things that people see as they make their way into your home. Northumberland Homes Barred From Having A Conservatory

Author: Conservatories & Double Glazing Expert  |  Leave a Comment >>

When you make the decision to have a conservatory installed one of the next steps required is to obtain planning permission. Planning regulations have been relaxed over the years, with only the odd proposal being rejected, so more often than not permission will be granted. However, that is not the case in a certain Northumberland neighbourhood.

The News Post Leader reports that several terraced streets in the former Wansbeck district of the county are banned from having conservatories built at the front of their property. This has led to Members of Northumberland County Council’s south east area planning committee asking for the decision to be overturned.

Councillor Jimmy Sawyer, of Ashington’s College ward, said: “One resident was refused because nobody else in that street had one. That’s absolutely ridiculous. That means everybody in that street can never ever have a conservatory.

“We cannot accept a policy where a person…

Consumers Feeling Increasingly Exploited By Energy Companies

Author: Conservatories & Double Glazing Expert  |  Leave a Comment >>

A YouGov report has shown that 84 per cent of people believe that energy companies maximise profits at the expense of consumers. The profiteering of the Big Six energy suppliers is a perfect example of just why people are feeling increasingly let down by energy companies, especially at a time when the cost of living is at an all-time high.

It also comes at a time when a huge number of people find themselves in debt to their supplier and incorrect billing, where a customer has been over-charged by an energy company, is a growing issue. Not to mention the fact that the average annual fuel bill now stands at a whopping £1,252.

Certain issues regarding the Big Six are on the way to being resolved which will be beneficial to the homeowner such as the coalition government’s insistence that energy companies cut and demystify the tariffs they offer so…

Ofgem Tells Energy Suppliers To Up Their Game

Author: Conservatories & Double Glazing Expert  |  Leave a Comment >>

The energy regular Ofgem has warned major energy suppliers that they need to improve their customer relations as half of respondents on a recent survey have stated that they are ‘quite’ or ‘very’ dissatisfied with the way complaints are dealt with. However, there are some signs of progress as the study also showed that two in five people who complained to their energy supplier have been left satisfied with how the issue was dealt with.

Common complaints relate to billing and meter problems, inaccurate meter readings and missing bills and it is estimated that consumers could collectively be missing out on £4m per year in uncomplained compensation.

Executive director of Which?, Richard Lloyd, says that people should always take the time to complain if it is justified:

‘When we surveyed energy customers last year, we found that many people had experienced a problem but didn’t complain, so could have…

By making modifications to your home you will be ensuring that it keeps its appearance and arouses the interest of buyers once the housing market beings to make some sort of recovery. The following ideas should give you further reason to increase your living space:

Planet South Lakes – Top Tips For Energy-Saving In The Home

Author: Conservatories & Double Glazing Expert  |  Leave a Comment >>

Household energy has risen massively over the past few years. The average energy bill now stands at around £1,200-£1,300 which has resulted in thousands of UK homeowners slipping into fuel poverty. A property is classed as living in fuel poverty when ‘it needs to spend more than 10% of its income on fuel to maintain an adequate level of warmth’.

Anyone currently being hit by expensive energy bills needs to make a conscious effort to save energy in the home. Planet South Lakes has put together the following advice to help you do just that:

Mobile phones

Android and smartphones require regular charging. Once your mobile phone has been fully charged make sure that you unplug it straight away in order to avoid wasting energy.

Showers and baths

Showering utilises far less water than having a bath, so keep baths to a minimum, but also make sure that showers are…

Cumbrian Conservatories Can Be Reinvigorated

Author: Conservatories & Double Glazing Expert  |  Leave a Comment >>

It is estimated that there are around 3 million conservatories installed in the UK, many of which are in urgent need of repair, especially those that are 10, 20, or even 30 years old. Once a conservatory loses its appearance and ability to keep out the weather, it becomes more trouble than it is worth.

If you want to retain a conservatory in your home but your current extension is in desperate need of an overhaul then forget about starting from scratch as this will cost you a lot of money, an expense that very few homeowners can afford. Instead, have a look into replacement conservatories as they will help restore your extension back to its former glories for a fraction of the cost.

A replacement conservatory can be installed using the existing base and walls of your conservatory, with other areas of the conservatory being replaced such…

Take The Plunge And Go For Triple Glazed Windows

Author: Conservatories & Double Glazing Expert  |  Leave a Comment >>

They say that first impressions count and nowhere else is this more applicable than to the family home. When someone pays a visit to your property for the first time you want to impress them so that they pass on favourable comments to friends and family.

One of the most notable parts of a home is the type of windows you have installed, you therefore need to make sure that they are looking their best and if they aren’t they you need to replace them with a more aesthetically-pleasing alternative. Most people’s instinct would be to invest in double glazing, but triple glazing is a more than a viable option.

As you can probably guess a triple glazed window contains three panes of glass, rather than the two included in a double glazed window. First popularised on the continent, triple glazing is now growing in popularity in…
